An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work.

Many years ago in a small Indian village, a farmer had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to a village moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the farmer's beautiful daughter. So he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the farmer's debt if he could marry his daughter.

Both the farmer and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. So the cunning money-lender suggested that they let providence decide the matter.

He told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty money bag. Then the girl would have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked the black pebble, she would become his wife and her father's debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father's debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, Guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too. The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his Grandfather which wolf would win. The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Your mind is the control room for your body, everything which happens in your body, whether consciously or subconsciously is initiated and managed by this control room. In your control room you have dials and levers, switches and sliding scales. Each one represents a single function in your body. You can enter your control room at any time you choose and visualise changing any one of those dials to help overcome problems or issues you are experiencing, for example, if you are blushing too much, imagine that dial which controls your anxiety level or embarrassment level. You might notice that it jammed at an inappropriate level, visualise unjamming that control and allowing it to set at an appropriate level. Feel the difference that immediately makes in your body.

Think of the body like a well oiled machine, like a car, all parts working in harmony with each other, each knowing their function and performing it well. Imagine this beautiful machine at it's very best, being looked after and cared for. If you start to mistreat the machine, giving it low grade fuel, letting it sit idle for a while imagine how this can impact the machine. continue to see the beauty in your machine and feed it the oil it needs and take it out for a zip now and again.

There were 2 little mice who lived in the walls of a homely kitchen. One day as they were both scurrying along above the worktops, they both slipped and fell into a large jug of milk. The first mouse paddled for a little while but gave up very quickly, the second mouse, determined to succeed (despite not knowing how) continued to paddle and paddle.... as he paddled more and more the milk started to curdle and slowly but surely the milk got thicker and thicker and was able to drag himself to safety on the rim of the jug.

There was a grandfather, and his little grandson often came in the evenings to sit at his knee and ask the many questions that children ask.

One day the grandson came to his grandfather with a look of anger on his face.

Grandfather said, "Come, sit, tell me what has happened today."

The child sat and leaned his chin on his Grandfather's knee. Looking up into the wrinkled, nut brown face and the kind dark eyes; the child's anger turned to quite tears. The boy said, "I went to the town today, with my father, to trade the furs he has collected over the past several months.
